YWCA’s Central Area Food Bank collects approximately 2,500 pounds of food a week and distributes that to over 1,100 people a week. It takes a lot of coordination from donors, volunteers and staff to make sure this process is smooth, safe, and efficient.

This week I sat down with YWCA staff member, Jason Hester, Kitchen Manager at Angeline's Day Center. We spoke about food, empowerment, resources, and community.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. During the week of October 15-19, YWCAs nationwide recognize Week Without Violence, part of a global movement to end violence against women and girls.
