Nikki Giovanni to Headline Annual YWCA Luncheon in Snohomish County

Annual YWCA Inspire luncheon celebrates 125 years of serving Washington women and girls
March 27, 2019

Everett, Wash. — World-renowned poet, writer, and activist Nikki Giovanni will be honored as the keynote speaker of YWCA’s annual Inspire luncheon to be held next month. Dubbed the “Princess of Black Poetry” and an Oprah Winfrey “Living Legend”, Giovanni has long been one of Black America’s leading voices committed to civil rights and racial equity. The luncheon will aim to spark fresh conversations around race and gender equity in Snohomish County and shine a spotlight on the vital services YWCA Seattle | King | Snohomish provides around our region’s most pressing issues, including affordable housing, job training, gender-based violence, and health access. The event is part of YWCA’s “All In for Washington Women” 125th anniversary year celebration, aimed at highlighting strong women and girls across our region and promoting a vision for Washington that works for all women. All proceeds from the luncheon will directly benefit YWCA programs.
