Our Stand Against Racism event helps raise awareness about systematic and structural racism and helps us build a community in the fight for equity and justice. This year, our focus is on Environmental Racism and the impact our environments have on marginalized communities.

As YWCA embarks on our 130th year of service, we are doubling down on our mission to eliminate racism and empower women by addressing the lack of stable and affordable housing options through downstream program services and upstream advocacy work during this year’s legislative session.

For almost 30 years, this local Seattle quilting group has created more than 5,000 beautiful handmade quilts for women in domestic violence shelters. We sat down with Penny Hazelton, the lead organizer of Flying Colors, to learn more about the work her group does.
