YWCA brings keynote speaker Janet Mock (New York Times bestselling author, director, producer, and advocate) to their Inspire Luncheon on September 18 at The Westin Seattle and livestream online. This year’s theme is “We Are All Storytellers,” which recognizes and celebrates women like Mock who share their story and empower others to tell their own.
Hear Janet Mock share her experience making waves in the media industry by becoming the first openly transgender woman of color to write and direct a television show and secure a major studio deal. She is well-known for her path-clearing and historic work on the Peabody and Emmy award-winning TV series, “Pose.” She's authored two New York Times bestselling memoirs, Redefining Realness (2014) and Surpassing Certainty (2017), about her journey as a Black and Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) trans woman.
Gifts inspired by the event support YWCA programs across King and Snohomish counties like emergency and permanent housing; gender-based violence services; and job training.
