REPORTS TO: Director of Housing and Support Services
LOCATION: 16601 NE 80th St, Redmond WA 98052
DESCRIPTION: The Family Support Specialist provides comprehensive case management services to homeless families in residence at Family Village who are working toward self-sufficiency and preparing to move into permanent housing as well as provides coordination of support services for families.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in screening and placement of clients to assess appropriateness of applicants for the housing program
Performs phone screenings of potential clients and participate in in-person intake interviews with ability
Develops and implements services plans in collaboration with the family including goals, objectives, time-lines and services required. Confers with referring agency as appropriate
Meets on a regular basis with each client and maintains appropriate records for case reporting, client tracking, statistics and hours worked
Coordinates linkages with other service providers and schools to facilitate fluid service delivery
Provides information and referral to non-residents (drop-in and telephone inquiries). Keeps all resource material updated
Inspects apartments and surrounding areas for repair, maintenance, sanitation and safety needs on a regular basis
Participates in outreach activities to eligible families and to referral sources
Helps prepare vacant units for new families
Facilitates client access to other housing resources in order to obtain permanent housing
Provides follow-up services to clients who have left the transitional housing program
Keeps Transitional Housing Supervisor informed of daily operations of the program
Participates in all agency, department and housing meetings to maintain integrated services for clients
May occasionally be called upon to work unscheduled hours in the event of an emergency
Holds meetings off site with other transitional housing clients
Arranges necessary contacts, letters or communications with other agencies or individuals to assist clients in securing emotional stability and stable income and housing
Networks with intra- and inter-agency service providers to advocate for clients and establish suitable support and referral systems
Records monthly rents of transitional clients; giving rent reminders when necessary
Attends appropriate trainings to increase knowledge and skills
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Sensitivity to the needs of clients and staff from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds required
Knowledge of resources for low-income families in King County/Eastside strongly desired
Ability to communicate effectively with DSHS staff, other service providers and the community regarding the program and client goals and progress
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as part of a team
Knowledge and experience related to domestic violence, homelessness, mental health , case management, positive parenting and crisis intervention are strongly desired
RATE, HOURS, BENEFITS
40 hours per week, evening hours are required
$14.42/hour

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Classifications: Non Exempt
Involves local travel to locations in Bellevue for off-site meetings
