The YWCA of Seattle · King County · Snohomish County has a variety of volunteer opportunities that vary in skill level and time commitment.  We want to help you decide if our organization is a good match for you.  Please take a moment to answer for yourself, the following questions.  Remember that volunteering is a commitment and it is important you find a place to volunteer that best matches your skills and availability.

• Often people with good intentions are just too busy to volunteer. Many of our volunteer opportunities require a minimum time commitment. We rely on volunteers to meet the needs of our clients as well as fulfill administrative gaps for the organizations. Without reliable volunteers, the needs in our community would not be met.
  
  Do you have time in your life now for this kind of commitment?
  
  
• Our organization is spread out with several service sites throughout King and Snohomish counties. There may be different volunteer opportunities at each site. If you have a particular interest, it could mean some traveling for you.
  
  Have you considered how far you want to travel to perform your volunteer work?
  
  
• We are looking for volunteers who possess certain skills/characteristics. Having these skills/characteristics will make for a more successful volunteer experience.
  
  Do you consider yourself....

  Able to handle stressful situations?

• The YWCA is committed to creating an environment that advances the quality of life for women of all ages, races and faiths and their families. Volunteering with our organization means you will be working with people of different ages, socioeconomic, cultural, racial, ethnic, religious, and educational backgrounds.

• The YWCA values the unique skills and knowledge of each of its volunteers. As a volunteer, you will be encouraged to bring your skills and knowledge to your position. However, there are also policies and practices in place to guide you and to ensure that we are providing quality services to our clients. From time to time, your personal beliefs may differ from the standards you are expected to follow. In these cases:
