DESCRIPTION: The Domestic Violence, Emergency Shelter Night position is responsible for providing emergency response for current shelter residents and/or permanent residents. The position has minimal resident interaction, however the Night staff is required to complete daily data entry and shift pass on information.
LOCATION: YWCA Downtown Program Center, Fifth and Seneca
REPORTS TO: Shelter Coordinator
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Check at each shift that all common areas are locked
Review all log entries from shift prior
Complete incident report and housing notification reports or emergency calls as needed
Provides crisis intervention to shelter residents, and to other women living in the YWCA building, if the need arises in the Night shift
Maintains record of client contacts
Takes primary role in dealing with people in crisis (i.e. overnight guests, residents, walk-ins)
Attends staff meetings
Cross training as appropriate
Performs additional duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
At least two years of direct social service experience, including 1 year of experience with women in crisis; or BA degree with at least one year of direct social service experience with women in crisis
Any combination of skills and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform this job effectively
Must have Domestic Violence experience!
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with substance abuse, mental illness, sexual assault, homelessness
Ability to work with other staff and clients from a variety of racial, cultural, and economic background
HOURS, RATE & BENEFITS:
On-Call, as needed
$10.00 per hour DOE
