More than 45,000 people under the age of 18 are living in poverty in King County.
The YWCA is committed to creating environments where youth and young adults can develop the personal qualities and work- and school-related competencies they need for successful adulthood.
Here is a look at our programs for children, youth and families:
- Child care in three locations - high quality curriculum and low staff-to-child ratios create a positive, nurturing setting for learning and development.
- GirlsFirst - leadership programming and mentoring for teen girls who face economic and social barriers to success.
- School's Out Washington - leads onsite training and technical assistance to providers of out-of-school care for children and youth in Washington State.
- Working Zone - helps homeless youth address barriers to housing and employment.
"There are few programs as effective as the YWCA in providing leadership skills to young people—especially young women—in our community."
