Housing at YWCA Opportunity Place

The apartments
Located on the top five floors of YWCA Opportunity Place, the residence includes 105 studio apartments averaging 415 square feet and 40 one-bedroom apartments averaging 575 square feet. The modern, comfortable units include fully equipped kitchens, private bathrooms and windows, most with exterior views. Heat is supplied by hydronic baseboard heaters, which provide quiet, dependable heat from the central boilers. The units are wired for telephone, cable TV and computer access.

The residents
YWCA Opportunity Place Apartments are home to individuals with very low incomes—less than $16,350 a year, or the full-time equivalent of about $8 an hour—who pay 30 percent of their income as rent. About 10 percent of residents earn 60 percent or less than median.

The amenities
YWCA Opportunity Place Apartments offers a real community for residents. In addition to safety features such as keyed building entry and elevators, the building offers residents opportunities to socialize on outdoor porches and sitting areas located on each floor. Resident managers and full time housing staff help ensure safe, enjoyable living experiences for residents and direct them to social, employment or medical services should they need them.
