The YWCA operates the WorkSource Affiliate Downtown Seattle on the second floor of YWCA Opportunity Place, and provides free training and job placement services for men and women—helping them develop solid work skills to find and keep good jobs. In collaboration with other non-profit and government agencies offering services at WorkSource, more than 3,500 people receive comprehensive employment assistance and education each year.
WorkSource also addresses issues that might prevent individuals from finding good jobs—learning disabilities, homelessness, domestic violence, limited knowledge of English, lack of work experience and more. Among the services and features offered at the Center are:
Career counseling and skills assessment
Referrals for support services, job placement, internship placement and apprenticeship placement
- Office occupations and light industrial skills
Access to job postings, computers, phones, fax machines, résumé writing support, etc.
22 computers in the Center’s computer lab which provide access to the Internet for jobs and employment-related web searches
Two technology-training rooms with a total of 23 computers for learning computer skills
A large gathering room with adjacent kitchen that serves as a meeting place for other neighborhood and community groups
For a schedule of upcoming events and workshops, visit the WorkSource web site.
