Program Overview
The Homeless Intervention Project (HIP) is designed to help homeless people throughout Seattle and King County obtain full time permanent employment, along with stable, affordable housing and self-sufficiency. HIP works with homeless individuals seeking immediate employment and/or occupational training that will lead to full time employment. HIP offers:
- G.E.D. and E.S.L. preparation
- Occupational skills training
- Job readiness training, including: resume building, interview preparation and practice, understanding employer expectations, developing good work habits and establishing work-related interpersonal skills
- Job search assistance and post-placement follow-up
- Housing, transportation, child care, clothing, food and other referral assistance
Eligibility
HIP is available to individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Currently homeless—living in a shelter, transitional housing, on the street or staying temporarily with a friend or relative
- Able to show Social Security Card and photo I.D.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
- Motivated to find full time employment
